Chinese Take Out

Hello all!

Here is an update for my Chinese Take Out Cupcakes!

My apartment complex had an international dinner on wed, and because I can't cook international food I decided to make food that looked like it was international.

First up:

What does every chinese meal have?

FORTUNE COOKIES!

Don't they look awesome!  I they were extremely easy to make too! Just a bit of caramel and there you go...

Now you can't have just fortune cookies to eat so I also made lo mein and fried rice.

Put it all together and what do you get?

Chinese take out meal!

The lo mein is just icing and laffy taffy while the fried rice is just rice krispies and laffy taffy.

Definately a treat to be had!

More to come!

Hey dear readers!  I know that you have probably looked at my blog lately and saw that there have not been any posts!  But I promise you there has been good reason for this.

I have done a bit of baking since my last post, but unfortunately my computer recently crashed by some crazy virus and I had no way of getting my pictures or real updates on here.

Fortunately I just got my computer back, but I have to do a bit of work on it to re-install my picture program and etc.

So while you may have to wait, I assure you that it will be worth it!!!!

Just a hint of what I am going to make next?

How does this sound :  Chinese Takeout Cupcakes ?

Intrigued?  I thought so!  Those wont be made until wed but maybe I could put a bit of teasers up before then.

See you soon!

Lets Play Pretend

Lets Play pretend that this post was posted yesterday while the next post was posted today... ok?

"Today" I was home for the weekend and went to Barnes and Nobles.... Big mistake... I started looking at the cookbooks and almost couldn't tare myself away from them.  I didn't leave empty handed though.  I managed to get this book.

Its filled with great ideas (some of which you should see soon) and apparently the marshmallow flower recipe I found online orginated from this book.  The book is mainly about decorating cupcakes (not really new recipes).

Got the baking bug but have little time? Well I was sorta in the same situation.  So by using a mix for strawberry muffins (just add milk)  I made my family a bit of breakfast the night before.  They taste delicious as if you had made the recipe yourself!

So what do starburst and tootsie rolls have in common?

Heres a hint

More details to come!

Bella Notte

So yesterday the women's ministry of an organization I am in called the BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry) had a "sleepover" more elegantly called Bella Notte.

Me and my friend Olivia were in charge of desserts and boy were they fun to make! We made the classic Oreo truffles along with something made out these ingredients.  Look at the picture and see what you think we made then at the bottom of the post I'll show you what came out of it!

We also made store bought brownies, which for a bunch of girls is always a big hit.

We also made our very own apple cake.  It was surprisingly delicious!   Just take diced apples and some homemade cake batter and bake it up, then drizzle on deliciousness and there you go!

Inside of the apple cake

Anelise was excited for us to make ganache... actually I think she just really liked the word. We didn't have chocolate chips that night so we used almond bark, which left the "ganache" a little thin...

Then for breakfast...
We made Chocolate Chip Pancake Muffins (Olivia ran to the store for the chips this time) Just dip them in some syrup and there you go!

Blueberry Muffins are also a must!

The blueberry muffins are hiding in the back

Ok so I made you wait a bit, and I even made the above post fairly short and sweet (of course going  on little sleep helps the matter in you case)

Drum roll please!

We made s'more cupcakes!  I could almost eat this picture!

look at these bad boys

This is what they look like on the inside!

Olivia and I with some of our creations!
